Rolling

Last Wednesday I ordered some more beekeeping supplies and got the message that the shipment would leave Thursday but as it was the first shipment with a new delivery company there may be "teething" problems. The company DPD has been around for years. Remember organising my company to change delivery companies to them in 1998 as their prices were extremely attractive. relationship only lasted a few weeks - a disaster.

This company remains for me a horror when I know a package is being sent with them. One never knows when they will deliver and with the drivers under such pressure, they will even leave things at the gate, unsigned for. We have lost a parcel that way, a simple 10 Euro calendar which was replaced without question but annoying.

So waited all morning and did a lot of rolling with the tractor and Franz's old small roller built by his father many years ago. It's sadly very narrow and doesn#t cover the tyre tread but it still serves a purpose. I sowed the strip Franz harrowed for us a few weeks ago with grass seed and then attached the roller offset on the rear hydaulic bar so that the tyre marks were covered. Given it was only a 4 - 5 meter strip not a big problem as one has to always roll in the same direction. Also did a strip around the old hedge that now exposed is simply bare earth.

Then having the roller, did most of the horse field Franz had covered in ferilizer recently to make sure all the pellets had broken down and then finally the field they have been on in the last few (wet) weeks with lots of large hoof prints. Blip is of the horses on the field later on in the afternoon.

Of course the parcel didn't arrive. The pool though is now at 20°C.
