Above And Beyond...

Cardiff City Centre

The wife was up at 6.15am. On looking out the window it looked a beautiful day - dry, sunny and the gusty wind had gone. I knew Cardiff City Centre would be really quiet, so by 7.30am I was there.

Of all the cities I've been to in the UK, I reckon Cardiff City Centre is the best. Great history, great shops, restaurants/bars, attractions, travel links and green spaces. It also retains it's Victorian Arcades. Chester, York and one or two others are lovely but still not as good as my home City. London is excellent but it's so spread out, and even the square mile is a nightmare in the week - and expensive!

The blip photo is an aerial view showing the Capital Tower Building (the tall building nearest), The Hilton 5 star hotel (oval shape opposite Castle wall), Cardiff Castle and it's motte, and the The Millennium Stadium, In the distance you can see Cardiff Bay, the barrage, and in The Bristol Channel, Flat Holme and Steep Holme Islands.

Cardiff became a city in 1905. Estimates are that 80,000,000 million shoppers a year use the city centre. It's in the top 6 with London, Glasgow, Birmingham, Manchester and Liverpool.

All that you can see in the city centre is within a square mile, including Bute Park, and the train/bus stations. Cardiff Bay is a good mile walk from the centre.

No excuses. See you soon!
