Canterbury Cathedral

An easy drive down to Canterbury for a bit of culture and a beautifully sunny day it's been. We found a car park under the city walls and wandered the pretty streets which were buzzing with tourists and shoppers. We were surprised to see the cathedral in such a bad state but there are twenty craftsmen (don't get me started on craftspeople or chair etc.,) working full time on repairs, but the money they need for ongoing work is vast. No wonder the admission charges are £10.50 for adults.

We are now ensconced in the Holiday Inn in Ashford and waiting for the Grand Prix to start. Dinner will be late tonight although we have to be up and away by 6am for our train through the Chunnel at 0720.

It's very strange having my comments turned off.

This is part of the cathedral without scaffolding.
