The Little Pond in Summer

With all of the rain we had early in the week, things have really greened up. Central Pennsylvania has begun to look like a rain forest.

I stopped by a favorite little pond on this morning, just for a few minutes, as I do. I found the grass soaked from the overnight rains, mist rising over the hills, and the pond surrounded by green plants and wild yellow iris. A big frog had just jumped; you can see the ripples to the left of the dock.

There were cows on the hill, but they were just outside the left frame of this shot. They were very quiet, peaceful cows; more intent on eating the fresh green grass than on mooing. Several birds were chasing each other along the bank; I suspect a nest may have been nearby.

There are gifts to be had in such moments. And the gift of this one was what I would describe as a peaceful, easy feeling. So the song to accompany this image is just that: the Eagles, with Peaceful Easy Feeling.
