Early Purple Spotted Orchid

A camera club evening at Pye Flatt Meadows yesterday evening on a beautiful June evening when the light and flowers were stunning.  (I'm not sure it was the most appropriate light for nature photography though - just a bit too much contrast).  The meadow flowers are later this year because of the cold spring and there are not quite so many orchids out as I've seen in previous years but I think the Common spotted orchids are only just coming.  Hundreds of other species for the connoisseur growing in the meadow - lots of yellow vetch (not sure of species), yellow rattle, ox-eye daisies, milkmaids.  I need another visit.

Earlier - Tai Chi with Roger.  Lunch with mum and then shed tidying and a trip to the dump-it site.  Ann had gone off to have lunch with her stepsons and to enjoy a lovely afternoon around old haunts in Sheffield.  My brother came to be with mum so we could both go to the meadow and we were back home just after 9pm - we left as the midges started biting our scalps.
