Bee Fly

This bee-fly hovers with a high pitched whine feeding on low growing flowers, clinging on with it's spindly legs.

It mimics bees in order to get near their nests and flick it's eggs near the underground burrows. The larvae feed as parasites on the usually mining bee or wasp grubs having found their way inside.

Enjoy the sunshine everyone - we deserve it!
