Shore Leave

Not straight away - we firstly had to motor round to the fuel berth and tie up beside the fishing boats to top up the diesel. Manly stuff, indeed. Then I took myself off while the Cap'n lifted floorboards and inspected shit, to do more of that. Well, I took my man bag. The arts centre of course - americano with a slice of carrot cake. And an Observer - there were only Sunday's papers available. How very fabulous.
But it was also a day of chat. Firstly with Angus, a guy on the pontoons here who knew more about the famous Granton Corinthians than we did - one of our boats was in and just left heading south yesterday. Then Jimmie showed up (I was up here on his boat a year ago) with a fine fruit cake for a blether. And then his cousin Murdo, now working for the harbour authority.
Phew. After that we thought we'd investigate the watering holes. This is the Criterion, but the Lewis Bar shaded it - there was a Hearts scarf with 19 May 2012 on it bang in the middle of the gantry. The owner's a Jambo said a none too chuffed barman, with resignation. And they had a lovely open fire on.
*helpful tip of the day* I'd recommend it to visiting yachtspeople of a Hearts bent. As long as you're not after decent beer.
