Learning day by day

Sports Day

Will was so excited about his first 'real' sports day and you could see that as he couldn't sit still or even stand still on the start line. So much so he fell flat on his face almost immediately that the sack race started! This is him in the egg and spoon. Look at that face. He isn't holding the egg on by the way but replacing it after it had fallen off.

Will was also so pleased every time Carys did well this afternoon. He was shouting louder than any other kid and cheering his house on loudly too.

Carys was happy with her afternoon until the end when she came second in the long distance (less than 400m) race. Unfortunately she took the head's advice to "start slowly" a little too literally and jogged at the back for the first 200m, then she started to run and whizzed through the year but had left too much to do to catch very speedy A who won. She was a little disgruntled as she felt she had done as Mrs. D had said and had been penalised for it. Valuable lesson learnt listen to Mrs. Light  rather than Mrs. Driver where sport is concerned! run at your own pace not how other people tell you too. She is now determined to win next year!

In other news our caterpillars, which have been crysalids for what seems like an age, have started to hatch. Two have emerged, the kids were at school but Jim and I saw the first very early on. It is fascinating watching the wings unfurl. Definitely be doing it again next year.
