Lapping up the attention

Father's Day and who gets the most attention? Why Dillion the Ginger Fluff Bucket of course! This gorgeous cat was once my brother's and has long since been adopted by mum and dad. He is truly a daddy's boy and spoiled rotten.

Every morning he cries for the watering can routine where dad dutifully tips up the can and lets the water drip from the nozzle as the cat licks up the droplets. He really has my dad wrapped around his fluffy little paws.

Mum and dad grumble about what a nuisance he is and mum keeps saying he's lived too long at 16 (awwwww) but I know they'd miss him if he wasn't around.

A not-quite 24 hour flying visit to mum and dad's was a welcome chance to chill after a busy few weeks. It wasn't long enough with my brother and I both having to leave to go to work this afternoon (my bro at Gatwick and me at the Castle) but it was nice to catch up. Especially nice that my headache finally disappeared too.

Growing up in an airport worker's household with my dad as an aircraft engineer we're used to special occasions being cut short or postponed and roast dinners on a Tuesday wasn't unusual. We don't need a special day to celebrate dad being great. We make our own special days when it suits us.

I asked dad during the cat watering can routine if perhaps Dillion wanted extra fuss as it was Father's Day. Dad replied: "No. EVERY day is Cat Day!" My dad knows best.
