Unseen Waterloo

Somerset House - another place we always wander through when in London.  The free and changing exhibition there is invariably worth seeing.
Just now it is “Unseen Waterloo” photographs of soldiers from the Battle of Waterloo - OK, not the real soldiers because it was “arguably the last great battle before the invention of photography.” These portraits are taken during the annual reenactments of the battle. I found it strangely moving, reflecting on this battle fought at a time when soldiers were anonymous and there were no war memorials to “the fallen".
I won’t say any more about the exhibition because there is a beautiful website which says it all much better and shows several of the portraits.
However, if you are in London go take a look!
On another note it was lovely to be in London for our God daughter's birthday and to eat a delicious Indian meal with the family as seen in the extra photo.
