Off to see my grandson!

Lovely visit to Cheltenham today to see my eldest daughter, Sarah and her little boy, Oliver (almost 4).  Some nice clouds from the train, then arriving at Cheltenham.  Nice picture of Oliver in reflective mood.

Cheltenham was specifically designed in its 18th and 19th century heyday as a pleasure health resort for wealthy visitors and if you look carefully you can still see some of the old buildings and shops in this now very modern version of what was an elegant Regency spa town.  I like the new key cutting / cobblers shop that still has the old signage from days gone by when it was a quality cigar importer!  Although we have been to Cheltenham quite a lot it's the first time we have managed to see the oldest building in the town - St Mary's church!  It was the sound of the bells that attracted us and you can hear them HERE.  Also random shot of a solitary seagull who is quite a long way inland (from the River Severn one presumes)
