In her Element

Thursday, we were up rather early.  Well...early for summer hours.  I had the girls up, dressed, fed, and ready for the day by 8:30.  The dad of Sugar's little friend arrived, and we head out to the local blueberry farm to do some picking.  We wanted to beat the heat of the day.  The girls picked about half a bucket each, and then complained of being toooooo hot.  We let them head off to entertain themselves in the shade.  They found a rope swing to occupy their time, while the adults continued to pick and chat.

After we each had about 14 lbs of blueberries, and about another pound each in our bellies, we purchased our berries, and the girls had ice cream to cool down.  YUM!  Sugar's ice cream gave her trouble, and provided us with lots of giggles.

We headed on out into the great woods to a county park by a small river.  This is Sugar's element.  She thrives, and dare I say, "GLOWS!" in this environment.  Soon she is jumping from rock to rock, wading through the water, catching salamanders, looking for crawdads, and collecting treasures.  She could have done this alllllll day.  It was the perfect weather for it.  I enjoyed watching her from the shade.

We took a different route on the way home, and had a bit of "yeehaw" type driving through the woods on a gravel road.  It had us girls smiling, and thinking, "Eat our dust!"  Sugar's little friend and her dad were behind us.  They had a dusty ride.

After we got home, we had dinner, and relaxed on the couch and watched a few of our DVR'D shows.  Sleepover in mama's bed.
