Lake Powell and Glen Canyon Dam

Day 8
We visited Zion National Park today which was magnificent - the scenery again was breathtaking ( hopefully back blip extras from home) On the way to Page for an overnight stop we stopped at Lake Powell.
Glen Canyon Dam is a concrete arch dam on the Colorado River near the town of Page. The dam was built in 1966 to provide hydroelectricity and flow regulation from the upper Colorado River Basin to the lower. Its reservoir is called Lake Powell, this is the second largest artificial lake in the country. The dam is named after Glen Canyon, a colorful series of gorges most of which now lies under the reservoir.
The lake is a 186mls long and 25 miles wide, needless to say we didn't see all of it . The lake is used for many recreational activities such as boat trips, swimming and fishing .
