Parklands for the people!

I noticed this view of the parkland as I walked around the walled garden at Cannon Hall with my mum this afternoon.

These country house estate parklands always amaze me for the incredible vision that went into the layout and design - something the original inhabitants of the house would never have seen. It seems only right that as the estates were created on wealth accrued by exploiting local workers (mainly in the iron works and coal mining in our locality) that local people now have the right to enjoy these grounds.

(I think I need to go back with the other camera and my tripod and on my own to do it full justice.)
