The Lozarithm Lens

The Red Lion, Lacock

What do you do when there are two blip events on the same day? In the morning I saw the Wadworth shires in Lacock, but in the afternoon back in Calne I witnessed Titan the Robot scaring the crowds at the Calne Festival.

On the one hand, seeing Titan was a first, and possibly the only time I would see him, whereas Max and Monty are old friends I have seen and blipped many times before.

On the other hand, how could I possibly choose a chunk of electronics over these magnificent draft horses?  Titan is delegated to the Extra.

The gentle giants are seen here arriving in the High Street at midday for their appointment at the Red Lion. I had a good chat there to Callum, one of their handlers, while I made contact with Monty and Max, and asked about Archie, their latest acquisition.

Archie is now 18 months old and not yet fully grown as his rear end is quite a bit taller than the front, apparently, and is being trained at their stables in Devizes. He is coming on really well and has bonded with Max and Monty. They call to each other as they return from their morning rounds delivering to the local Wadworth pubs, and Archie has been showing an interest while Max and Monty have their gear put on and taken off each day. It will probably be over a year before Archie is taken out on the rounds, rotating with the other two so that there will always be a shire horse at the stables for visitors to see.
