Flight of Angels

Beneath high arches,
Mellifluent voices rise.
As it is written,
The heavens and earth shall shake,
And our harps turn to mourning.

Went to see The Sixteen in a local posh school's college chapel, with friends Stephanie and Peter.    The programme was called Flight of  Angels and was comprised of works by 16th century Spanish composers Guerrero and Lobo.

The singing, of course was sublime, as was the choice of music.  A beautiful uplifting sea of sound.  I was enchanted by some of the words in the translations from latin. One piece in particular  by Lobo:

My harp is turned to mourning
and my music to the voice of those that weep.
Spare me, Lord, for my days are nothing.

In the audience were some friends from where we used to live, we hadn't seen them for about 13 years ... there's always that hesitation about whether to say hello or not .... whether they'll recognise you... but in the end we did and it was lovely to have a quick catch up.  Connections seem to be an ongoing theme at the moment ...

Then back to our friends house to drink wine on the terrace and watch lightening in the distance from a storm which passed us by.

This is the second time we have seen The Sixteen .... the first time was two years ago and the blip is almost identical!
