Old Man's Beard

One again it is hot and sunny although there was a rain shower this morning. As only the tiler is here, tiling the bathroom walls and floor, Dougal and Florence do not have to be shut in the house, he does not keep driving off in his vehicle to the shop; once here he stays until it is time to go home.

Today’s picture shows part of the newly seeded area and despite watering it and the odd rain shower it is still very patchy. I suspect that we will need to reseed parts of it at some point; probably once it is cooler.

The white fully stuff in the foreground and all over the rest of the garden appears every year from somewhere. This year I decided to ‘Google’ it; it is called Old Man’s Beard (Clematis vitalba) and is considered to be a weed and a nuisance. Having read about it, I realise that we have some in the garden, but ours does not appear to be the cause of all the white fluffy deposits in the garden. My extra picture shows how thick it is in some parts of the garden.

Many thanks for all your comments, stars and hearts on my 1500 blip yesterday and for the birthday wishes for my husband; he sends his thanks too.
