Wanderings & Witterings

Bark

I was brought up near Stepps and, at that time, the area now known as Stepps Park was a combination of woodland and weed-land with a small, rough, red ash football pitch in the centre. I left Stepps in 1981 and, as one might expect, the place has changed considerably since then.

Stepps Park is one of the recent changes, brought about by a combination of community action and community fund-raising over many years. A considerable amount of landscaping has occurred, with the creation of new paths, a children's play area and 'community art' such as this carved wooden bench, but there are still areas of woodland and wild-flower 'meadows'.
