Along the Harris shore

We left Scalpay on Tuesday morning and drove back to Tarbert where the cat in my extra picture was making the most of the attention from people queuing up for the ferry to Skye. We went on down through Harris - the cloud was low and the famous Luskentyre beach (Losgaintir) was dull and drizzly. The beach has been voted No. 1 in Britain and in the Top Ten beaches in the world. They didn't come to vote today!

Further down the coast these sea-washed 'lawns' could have been set in mercury! There were other beautiful beaches, but with the weather being so dull and wet they looked rather depressing!

We had a snack in a cafe in Leverburgh and caught the ferry over to North Uist - a winding route through many islands and skerries.
