Dance of the Planets Over Little Mount Peel

Venus and Jupiter have been in the same portion of the sky for a wee while now. Whilst they are now past their closest point if viewed from Earth  - conjunction as it's known - they are still prominent in the Northern Sky, around twilight.

Next week these two brilliant planets will be close to the crescent moon and Regulus, the main star in the constellation of Leo. It should be a beautiful sight, so here's hoping the clouds stay away next Saturday night.

Mrs H and I had a nice Sunday drive this afternoon (OMG - how middle aged!), heading out to Staveley and it's lovely little cafe, and then making out way back via Klondyke and the intake to the Rangitata Diversion Race. Whilst there I grabbed a shot of one of the sluices that takes spill water back down to the river below the gorge. Check the extra photos for the impressive piece of engineering.
