It's Too Late

It was after 9 p.m. when I spotted this dormant bumblebee on a blackberry flower, long after she should have been settled into her nest for the night. 

If all goes well, she'll slowly warm up in the morning and continue gathering  pollen and nectar. (The UK Bumblebee Conservation Trust has a wealth of interesting information about these important insects---take a look!)

I'm writing this at 10:30 p.m. Sunday, and it's too late for me too, especially with our grandchildren arriving at lunchtime tomorrow! But I can't resist adding Carole King's It's Too Late; even though it's not really relevant to the image, good music is always a treat!
