Flyin' Ryan

One of the interesting things about the Kirkcudbright Country Fair is they always manage to find a spectacular attraction for the main ring.  This year it was the Flyin' Ryan motorcycle display team.

Among the stuntshe performed was jumping over a Land Rover 101 Forward Control and trailer.  These are big beasts which were only produced for a short time.  they are 7 feet high and 14 long.  The trailer was a similar length and just to make things more impressive it was parked about 8 feet back from the take off ramp.

The finale was jumping through the flame created by exploding a bag of petrol.  I chose this shot as the bike is clear of the flames and the "Mohican"  attached to his helmet is on fire.  He was wearing double layers of fireproof overalls and balaclava, but he still has to be a little mad.  I don't usually add extra shots but in the first you can just see the wheels and dark shape of the bike, the second shows the bike starting to emerge from the ball of flame.
