Helmsley in the Rain

We packed our bags and left our weekend cottage and drove off into the rain.  We planned to stop in Pickering to visit the castle, but there was so much traffic we kept going.  We stopped in Helmsley – where we visited Helmsley Castle in the rain.  We then sheltered in a lovely tea room for lunch, before wandering round the town centre.  Helmsley is a lovely traditional Yorkshire town and even in the rain it looked very picturesque.  We then headed over to Masham to walk to the Druid’s Temple.  TT and I had been years ago, but we couldn’t quite remember where it was.  We eventually found it and the walk was much shorter than we remembered, which made us think we had come by a different route. At least the rain had gone off.

We then headed off to my in laws as we haven’t visited for ages.  BB was pleased to see his grandma and granddad. It’s a shame we didn’t have longer to spend with them, but at least the weather had brightened up for the long drive home.

Here is a view of Helmsley in the rain.  The extra is the Druid’s Temple.
