Halloween Superheroes

I met Carl when he finished work. We had a vague plan to go to see Burn After Reading, either before or after having something to eat, but that plan was quickly abandoned because everything would have been just too rushed. Instead, we went for an early bite to eat in Alexis restaurant in Dún Laoghaire. It's gone up and down in our estimation since it opened a few years ago, but fortunately it was back on a bit of a high on this occasion. My starter of pumpkin risotto was especially nice, service was pleasant, and prices weren't too bad. All in all, a good experience.

Afterwards, we thought we might find somewhere with a bit of Halloween atmosphere, and tried Scotts first, and then the Cozie, where things were really good a few years ago. These two superhero barmen had brought a smile to faces in Weir's before our meal, but neither of the other two places had gone to any trouble for the night. We were at a bit of a loss after that, and weren't really in the mood to slum in O'Loughlin's just yet, so we continued our mini pub crawl in Dunphy's, a place we very seldom go to. It was my round, so I went up to the bar, to be greeted immediately by my cousin, who I haven't seen or even been in touch with for eighteen months or so.

He joined us, his wife came along later, and by the time we left we'd solved (or at least discussed) all the important issues of the world. We promised faithfully to keep in touch, and, who knows, perhaps we actually will.

Back at Carl's Kino we tried and gave up on two films, neither of which I can remember as I write this.
