A view of Davos Lake

I never expected last night's circus performance to be so thrilling. I was expecting amateurish acts and motley old animals - instead we got jaw dropping acrobatic acts, undecipherable magic acts, really funny clowns (despite it all being in Swiss German we still found it very funny), healthy looking beautiful animals (horses, camels, llamas, and donkeys) and beautiful girls who could twist their bodies into the most stupefying positions - and sexy...when did the circus get sexy? The girls all had perfect bodies shown off in the most alluring outfits, and what they could do with their bodies was incredible - such toned and strong muscles, it had to be seen to be believed! The Nock Circus is the oldest circus in Switzerland, and has been going since the 17th century with the 7th generation of the family currently running the business. It was an unexpected treat to see it.

This morning I set off with Murdoch after breakfast on a hike (leaving Thomas to sleep as he planned to go biking later). We took the gondola to the top of the mountain and walked down on the other side with views over Davos. It was very steep coming down and as it is so dry there were many loose stones and rocks so it took great concentration not to go sliding down the mountain side. My thighs were certainly feeling the effort when I finally got home again!

This is the view towards Davos, with the Davos Lake. In the foreground is a spiky flower, looking a bit like Tina Turner's hair, and they are quite common up on the mountain but I do not know what they are called. I have added an extra photo of this stage flower in close up - and another of the beautiful view.

After lunch Thomas went to join his friend at the pool and I met my friend for a coffee. It was so hot, we kept moving seats looking for a cooler spot on the terrace of the restaurant but it did not help.

Today is is happy birthday to my brother and sister, who are twins.
