Food and drink

They say you can lead a horse to water but not make it drink . . . but so far as I know, no-one has said anything about cows!
At least one of these however, is taking time to drink the water at the edge of this lake.  Except that they are not all cows, but young bulls and they roam free in this wildflife reserve at Totton in Hampshire.
If you get close, they will take notice and are wary of how near you are. But then probably no more wary than I was when approaching them for this Polaroid Blipfoto. The lake is the best part of a mile to walk all the way round, and for much of this, the cattle have freedom to roam and do a good job in keeping much of the grass and vegetation short and at an acceptable level for walkers, runners and those exercising dogs around the lake.

If you are wary of cattle, you can avoid the areas in which they are grazing at any point in time. But it seems they will take little notice of you and like me, you accept them as part of the life of this spot, long with the many species of birds who live on land or water as well as other animals which call this spot home.
