Pond finished....

So, here it is, over 3 months later the wildlife pond is complete. Did the final bit of painting of the fence hiding the compost bins and the last few plants were put in to complete all the planting. Now it just has to mature and establish and maybe put a few more plants in the water.

Already there are waterboatmen skimming over the surface, some sort of larvae wriggling in the water and we've seen damselflies darting around, settling to mate and lay their eggs in the water.  All being well, more animal life will find their way into the pond over the coming months.

The story of creating the pond can be seen on 8th April, 24th May, 8th and 12th June. Now what's next?

Spent the day doing other "just" jobs, like going to the garden centre to get even more bits for the automatic watering system that we inherited with the house, cleaned the car ready for the long trip north to Scotland later in the week (hence the watering system work), cooked a pot roast dinner and spoke to Chris in San Diego.

Seems like they're having a much needed wet spell at the moment. Torrential rain and thunder it seems. Very good to hear though that one of their dogs who had escaped had been found and returned to them.
