Tetney

A long day out surveying Tetney Blow Wells which is owned by Anglian water and is a reserve of the Lincolnshire Wildlife Trust. It's located not far south of Grimsby, so was a two hour drive, but for the first time Chris was able to do half of it, which was great, and gave him some useful practice with hills and sharp bends as we drove through the Wolds.

The site isn't really very large, but always feels quite tiring, possibly because of the rather uneven ground and generally tall fen vegetation. It didn't help that the weather managed to be simultaneously hot, sticky and very windy! This was taken on the way back to the car, when my legs had almost turned to jelly, and is a view west along the Tetney Drain, with the chalk hills of the Wolds in the distance.

We arrived home to rather delicious chicken fajitas cooked by Alex and Ben. They'd never made them before, but after one or two phone calls, managed to devise a very yummy recipe of their own. They were very welcome at the end of a long and tiring day.
