Jumping The Waves

These two are such water babies!
They were in the pool by 7.30am. Enjoying the glorious sunshine which made a lovely change from yesterday.
They were in the house shivering by 7.45am. Ha ha!!
After breakfast we headed out to get as close to Mont St Michel as we could without getting caught up with the angry farmers setting fire to tires. Among with the view of Mont St Michel as we approached we could also see black smoke billowing up into the sky!
We avoided the main roads as lots of those are being blocked by farmers too.
I'm always happy to meander down the smallest roads possible so it was no great hardship.
We went round Mont St Michel Bay to the nearest viewpoint. It was wonderful to see it relatively close up.
I'm disappointed that we couldn't get any closer but I'm consoling myself that we missed the crowds and the hundreds of steps!
And we'll have to come back another day!
We went further up the coast to Jullouville is a lovely beach resort with a wonderful sandy beach.
When we'd been at the viewpoint the tide was out and the bay was a vast mud/sand flat.
An hour later at the beach the tide was high the waves were fabulous and the Little Misses were straight in!
It was wonderful watching them running in and out of the waves, jumping, falling in, squealing with delight, spitting out salty water and sand. They loved it!
I couldn't decide which photo to use today. I loved one of them holding hands (see extras)
But this one reminds me of their joy and happiness and after yesterday that's  good thing!!
We finally dragged them away and had lunch - a yummy ham, cheese and apple galette for Miss E and ham and chips for Miss L.
I got upset for her as have often this holiday. It's so bloody unfair that she has to be denied all the time. And it makes things so difficult - much more than I ever would have imagined. We can't just stop and eat whenever and wherever we feel like.
But she is brilliant about it and - as I do well to remind myself occasionally -  there could be so many worse things that she could have to contend with. Not being able to eat a pancake is not the end of the world!
After lunch we carried on up the coast to Granville and had a quick explore. It has an amazing, beautiful old town with gorgeous cobbled streets, flowers everywhere, higgledy piggledy houses and walls and courtyards. It was like a film set!!
A lovely day! Marred slightly by a ridiculous row with the Little Misses in the car on the way home. Tiredness and irritating childishness. From them and me!!
Luckily soon afterwards they both fell asleep and Mr K put them both straight to bed and we've been enjoying more French bread, cheese, pate and biscuits.
The owner's mother in law came round this evening too. We've had no hot water since Sunday and having played telephone tennis for the last few days she finally came round. Did everything to the boiler that Mr K had already tried and then said she'd have to go away and call the plumber.
My email to the owner on our return is getting longer!!
