Magpie

Plenty of these birds around, but such a secretive bird for such a big one! He is not at all happy to be photographed, so this was a quick snap. Until I really looked at the photo I did not really appreciate the colours and beauty of the bird, I especially didn't realise Magpies have 'a dipped in oil' coloured tail with those greens, browns, blues and purples. He's a beauty, but rather a noisy character and surprising shy. He likes to linger around road kill victims & I suppose you could call him one of natures 'cleaner uppers!'
