Every Cloud has a Silver Lining

I knew early on it was never going to be a dream boat of a day when I wakened to the sound of wind and the view out of the window overlooking Hamnavoe, obscured by running water like one in a fish shop of yesteryear.

There was nothing for it but to repair to the comfort of Julia's café and then a visit to the new library overlooking the harbour. What a wonderful addition to the town it is with comfy settees and a view to die for. I borrowed a book thereby giving me a member's card and making me an honoured Orkney Library afficionado.

The sick car booked into a garage in Kirkwall in the afternoon, needless to say, was like any patient threatened with medical attention and behaved impeccably on the journey there and during its test run. With nothing obviously wrong, its software was updated for a mere £100 smackers.
When did cars begin to run on software that needs updating like a computer? What's wrong with talk of dipsticks and sparking plugs and cylinders, or just plain dirt in the fuel? Why does life have to be so complicated?

One less complication was the weather, and with the wind abating, out came the sun and washed the rain away.
Every cloud has a silver lining.

This is the view of the harbour from the library , showing the Hamnavoe ferry leaving for Scrabster, while the Graemsay from Hoy slides into its own berth.
