Meadow Browns & Gatekeepers

I felt today as though I were in Butterfly World!  There were just so many Meadow Browns & Gatekeepers all around us in the garden I could scarcely believe it plus several blues, whites, as well as hummingbird moths, a lizard and a black snake!   I just wasn't quick enough with the camera for that one, but some of the butterflies were easier.

(Edit: this is likely to be a Meadow Brown but there's a Gatekeeper as an extra with the following day's blue)

The journey from Saumur to Duras only took 4.5 hours yesterday afternoon(thank goodness we didn't hit the jams of the previous day) and we were soon catching up with Jonathan & Peter's news: a burglary, a lazy/negligent/absent builder and a leaking extension :-(  We are hopong to help them de-stress.
