Rabbit Island

With an appointment in Nelson today, Riwaka 7 and I decided to go early and call at Rabbit Island to look for a blip. It was just as well we did go early as the grey miserable day degenerated into rain before the day was out.

I got lots of shots of birds and seascapes but chose this one because it shows the sweeping expanse of sand that is so typical of Rabbit Island. A smokey haze is hanging over the port hills of Nelson.

The extra is a trawler some way out in the bay. You can see the nets dragging behind and the ever hungry gulls swirling around.
