Behind the hills

Air NZ has a new safety video showing as the plane starts the taxi to the runway. Over the last few years, they have produced some entertaining videos, and unfortunately rather too many forelock tugging ones. By that, I mean that they pay US celebrities (some of whom have been well past their best) to provide US accents to cater for those who tune out when things don't sound right. I have found some of them so objectionable I have tuned out. Especially the last one which featured a whole raft of foreign surfers with all sorts of accents, only a couple being New Zealanders.

The new one has used one US actor, which is reasonable given that the video is very loosely based on the Men in Black films, and this actor was in those. The video features the New Zealand rugby team, The All Blacks, presenting the safety information clearly and easily followed, despite doing it as a Rap. And very well too. I'll pay attention again.

This photo was taken on a post-work run, partly along the edge of the southern part of the Porirua Harbour. I took this photo about five minutes after the sun dropped behind the hills to the west. The clouds were reflecting the golden sunlight down onto the harbour water, with little more than ripples as there was almost no wind, after a day of strong winds and driving rain.
