Magical Morning

It was eerie, the light this morning on Lake Padden, thanks to the smoke drifting from the wildfires in eastern Washington.

But there were also thousands of tiny insects backlit by the sun, rising in columns from the lake, and wonderfully creative spider webs (see extra) glinting in the sun. Hundreds of dragonflies were darting, mating, eating -- relishing the moment, no thought for the future, in a late summer bacchanalia.

It was only the heat of the sun that finally impelled me to head for home, where I had a lovely quiet day of sorting through photos and documents, while Phil attended a workshop.
