Cricket Bat Trees

A good night out and still nattering when it was dark.  No thunderstorms, just a lovely balmy evening with lots of outdoor games to play, plenty of food and good company.  That's my excuse for the lack of comments.

I've been in the garden all day, hacking back and making use of the neighbours green bin whilst they are away on holiday.

I took this picture on my way home this morning and the uniform green trees in the distance are Salix alba var. caerulea, or cricket bat trees to me.  Once they reach the desired height they will be cut down, roots taken out and saplings planted, starting the cycle all over again.  I hope England's Ashes win will encourage more youngsters to take up the sport.
