YST

We headed over for our regular breakfast at Stephania’s.  We, or should I say, CJ, was greeted at the door!  They’re going to be closed for a couple of weeks so Stephania gave CJ a pack-up of her best homemade dog biscuits to keep her going.

Rich headed off to town and I took a walk back via the White House and my hut.  The wind was picking up by the time I was nearing home but it was still beautifully warm and the heather is looking magnificent.

When Rich got back, we decided we had time to head out on our bikes at 5pm for a quick ride before the forecasted 7pm downpour.

As we headed down the road, everything looked quite dark.  It became darker and darker.  And then just a touch black.  We were already pedalling quite hard when we heard the first clap of thunder, but I think we still managed an extra burst of speed.

It was a classic Yorkshire Summer Time moment, where the forecasters forget that we’re an hour ahead of Britain.  It began raining on our way into Otley which was quite lucky really; not far from home.  We imagined Little Dog doing a rain dance in the kitchen as punishment for us both going out.

The rumbling and lightening was getting ever closer together and the deluge really hit us on the way back up our hill home.  The split second between the lightening and clap of thunder on the doorstep finished off the ride nicely.

Barbecue next.

In the oven.
