First of the last!

Orchids, that is. This is one of the first opening flower spikes I have seen from the last orchid to flower in the UK - Autumn Lady's Tresses. It is at a site where I've known it for years - tightly grazed grassland at the top of low limestone cliffs overlooking Morecambe Bay in North Lancashire.
