Pontypridd Lido Aerial

Pontypridd Lido has been on the local Welsh news all week. It closed in 1991 and got into a bit of a state. Pontypridd’s famous lido is at Ynysangharad Park which is in the heart of the town.  The lido has had £6.3m spent on it which plans to transform the historic lido into a state-of-the-art facility. The new roof tiles at the new lido buildings have been supplied by the same French company that provided the original tiles some 90 years ago. Even the windows have all been taken out and carefully restored.

I got there about 10am this morning and was quite surprised to see how busy it was, even though there is a lack of people in the aerial. The sun was out and all seemed to be enjoying it, including an outdoor fitness group.

The aerial photo shows the play area infront of the main entrance and gives a good idea of the layout on the three heated pools inside, and  shows the changing rooms and loungers.
