Machen Mountain Sunset

We stayed the night at our friends on the Cotswold Water Park, and after a good lay in an leisurely breakfast we went for a walk along the canal and disused railway tracks. Compared to home the landscape is quite flat!

We left about 3.30pm to avoid the motorways and bank holiday traffic, to enjoy a meandering drive home (avoiding being fleeced of £6.60 by the thieving Frence owners of the Severn Bridge) through Gloucester and along the River Severn to Chepstow and home.

I knew it'd be a good sunset, so an hour before its set time of 8.05pm, I set off up to the top of the local mountain to watch it go down. Beautiful; I never tire of seeing sunset or sunrises.
