I was a "Lady With An Ermine"

I think this is a White Ermine moth caterpillar. It's one of those hairy caterpillars that lives up to its name. The word caterpillar means cat's hair.

These caterpillars eat a lot and grow fast, are extremely mobile and are capable of covering large distances quickly, especially during the last instar. The scientific name of the species refers to this (lubricipeda = quickfooted).

The six true insect legs can be seen in my pic plus its four pairs of abdominal prolegs and a pair of anal prolegs.
