Windy

A brisk day! We did a bit of touring around, but the gale was blowing hard. It drew me back to the Point up by Stromness golf course, where the gannets were diving.
This one is being harassed by a great skua, known in the Northern Isles as a bonxie (though apparently my grandfather, a trawler skipper, used to call them shite-hawks). They make their living by terrifying other seabirds (who actually catch the fish) into disgorging their catch, which the bonxies then snaffle up.
Earlier, we'd seen an arctic skua at the same spot (my first!) but it had gone elsewhere by the time I came back with the 300mm lens :/
