Common Hogweed

These are the seed heads of the Hogweed we left growing near the feeders.  I blipped a young Blue Tit on the flower on 16th July.    Things have moved on a lot since then.

As I was out filling the bird feeders I noticed the colour and texture of the seeds so decided that was today's blip.  IN theory the young shoots are edible and claimed by some to be the finest tasting UK vegetable.  However in view of its seriously poisonous larger relation Giant Hogweed it is not something I would consider trying.
