Diary of an Edinburgher

Archie's dreams

One of Archie's favourite toys - an empty milk carton. He goes crazy with it. I couldn't resist grabbing a (not very good - I haven't got used to tapping to focus first) photo with the iPhone as he waited patiently for the OK! signal. He's so easily pleased.

I was thinking what he'd be like if he was a person. He'd be completely unaware of his good looks, but his personal grooming regime would be sadly lacking, despite his mums' best efforts. He'd never brush his hair and he'd go about with, say, a leaf stuck in his beard all day. He'd be rather shy with new people, hate parties and would keep well clear of toddlers. But once he knew you, he'd be a friend for life.

He loves his girlfriend and frolicking with her in the hills, though he'd never move in with her - he's a mummy's boy at heart. He's not one for nightlife, preferring an evening at home. He's not overly bright, so he'll never go to university, but has vague dreams of becoming a footballer. Or maybe running his own wee business - perhaps a plumber, or a  window cleaning round, or maybe a lawn mowing business. Or possibly a chimney sweep (though he'd send the boy up on the roof). But really, being a tennis player looks pretty easy ...

He definitely has no ambitions in the thespian department...

He's off to a new dog sitter tonight. This was booked before we came up with the ideal solution - Bailey and her mum will move in here with him! But we still need a reliable sitter, our previous one has moved too far away.

I'm off to a (routine) hospital appointment this afternoon. I've checked and double checked the time, having missed one earlier this week.

We Facebooked a friend in NZ this morning, and I've just been (instant) messaging a pal in Ulan Bator and another NZ. Isn't technology wonderful!

So how come an important text message  ('Bring Magnums!') can take HOURS to arrive across Edinburgh??
