Otto.de - An Appraisal
Saga is the wrong word. Saga implies something Epic, something ultimately rewarding, and an Epic has a Happy Ending Although We Suffered Too..
The Farce Of Otto.de is more the soul-deadening futility of dealing with People-Who-Are-Wrong-And-Know-They-Are-But-Don't-Care.
To summarise the story:-
1. I ordered and paid for a desk from otto.de
2. Said desk was defective
3. I asked for a replacement part
4. They said 10 working days for that
5. 2 weeks later nothing, so
6. I emailed
7. "It'll be another 2 to 3 weeks" they said.
8. "F*** off" I said. "Give me my money back"
9. "How about you dismantle the desk and we send you another one? " they said.
10. "No." I said. "Take this piece of crap away and give me my money back. I want nothing more to do with you."
11. They took the desk away (not at the time they said they would and without phoning first like they promised).
12. No money refunded
13. I get a letter saying they'll be delivering the new part soon.
14. Still no money refunded.
15. Man arrives 2 weeks after desk sent back with new part for the desk that isn't here.
16. Still no money refunded
17. Have horrible thought. This is a company that does what it thinks I want and not what I want.
18. Login to Otto.de and well, look at that, they've given me a credit note. So that I can spend my "refund" with them
19. I write them a very "stinksauer" E-Mail - Money Back Or I Get A Lawyer
20. They say (Tuesday 8th September) "Ok, Accounts department has been asked to process the refund"
21. Friday - still no refund but my Very Own Store Card with a Special 5% Off Everything Offer.
22. Words don't fail me, but hope does.
I think we can say, this is not an endorsement of Otto.de.
No friends won. All goodwill lost and I hope none of you will now never buy from them.
