Quod oculus meus videt

Mesa Arch, Canyonlands, Utah

An early start.  No real hardship for me, it is when I feel most in tune with the landscape.  The only surprise was how many other people had decided to turn up at Mesa Arch at 6:00 am for the sunrise.  After a little bit of tripod leg knitting I got a space and jealously held on to it until the sun had risen.  Everyone was very respectful of the other photographers, all standing about 6 feet from the arch edge.  Well, except for one lady who had obviously put her 'towel' down early sitting in front of some people.  Even when asked politely if she  might move to allow a shot, you could tell it was not done with any grace.  It might have been more acceptable if she had even been looking towards the sunrise, but she had her back turned to it most of the time!

I've added a few more images and there is a set on Flickr.

Many thanks for all who have commented and left hearts and stars.  I'll catch up with you at the end of the holiday.  We have very little time for the internet, as we seem to be either sleeping (not much of that), eating, travelling, photographing, or downloading images.  A very limited time is given over to posting something for the day and I am already behind on that.
