Goosle Fledglings: Eye Spots

Closer up in large.

Goosle photography is much harder with a compact camera! Gawd... They were on good form though: one fledgling did very impressive flying (it was chased right up into the air by Mr. and led him out over the common and right around the pond) and they're making a wide range of noises (they still peep submissively, but also do croaky trumpeting and chattering). I think that their voices and sizes now make it fairly clear that two are male and one is female: the female is smaller and much more slender than the other two, and tried to make the same trumpeting alarm call that Mrs. makes when she sees dogs (a noise that only females make). There was also a heron poking about on the pond: it walked past the Goosles at one point and they seemed fairly untroubled (Mrs. previously got very worked up about herons), so perhaps Mrs. can tell that the heron is no longer a risk to her young Goosles...

I'm still trying to choose my holiday blips, but have uploaded a wide selection to Flickr (the album is here), and will aim to do the back blipping tomorrow.
Other Goosles shots from today are right from here.
Highlights:
Mr. flapping
Flying fledgling (poor quality)
