Land of Contrasts and Contradictions

Another bright but very windy day, which is keeping the temperatures down.

This morning I had to go to Roquetas for a blood test which of course is an early appointment.   So afterwards, I strolled on to Mercadona to see what time it opened, which was 9.00.   As I had a little time to wait I wandered on the road and came across the sheep 'grazing'.   I was walking on the footpath next to what is the main road from the Playas to the urbanisation of Roquetas, so a fairly busy road with no fences.

The area they are in is an empty building plot.   Here before any building is undertaken, the infrastructure has to be put in place ie, roads, footpaths, lights etc.

All around Spain can be seen these plots.   In the towns they are usually not quite as deep and are used as car parking.

You can see the contrast in the picture, beyond the sheep, the road and lampposts, beyond that more plots and beyond in the background, greenhouses and some neatly trimmed trees.
