Resilience and Fortitude

The white object on the left side above the water is the sculpture Resilience.  It was unveiled at Foreshore Park on 5 September.

Prior to that the large block of marble from Greece was chiselled away and the sculpture formed in another part of the park closer to Horseshoe beach.  It took the local artist, Roger McFarlane six weeks.   I had a look at the progress a few times but it was cordoned off to the public at night with fencing.

The marble is lovely and smooth to touch as I did tonight.

The aim of the sculpture is to increase mental illness awareness. From the website about it:   the "The sculpture ‘Resilience’ is in an abstract figurative style that depicts a figure in a sitting pose while in deep thought. The figure has free flowing and calm appearance that is  contemporary in its design.

Behind it rising on the hill is Fort Scratchley.
