Harlow Carr- September colour

It's hard to believe but it was spring when we were last at RHS Harlow Carr near Harrogate. We came  to see the tulips!

Today there was a mix of late summer colour and hints of autumn; this drift of wild annuals in front of the Alpine house looked more like summer as did the lovely heather beds but there were autumnal colours in some of the trees  - see some of them in this Flickr album.

This morning was perfect for our early walk around the St Ives Estate. Blue skies and sunshine and beautiful calm on Coppice Pond
Sunshine all the way to Harrogate too but as we headed into Betty's for lunch it clouded up. Still it remained fine and warm, good job as I was only wearing a cardigan, and we had a brief return of the sun later in the afternoon.

Enjoyed both parts of the day and found it very difficult choosing a blip! There's always so much to take at Harlow Carr but I decided to go with summer - so much more of autumn to come!
